five on friday: lollipops and arctic temperatures

ONE. Kaya had her first lollipop ever this week. Cotton candy flavor is a big hit! (Also, I had no idea how messy a lollipop could be. She definitely should’ve worn a bib for this…)01102014photogrid1

TWO. I can’t even believe that this was our weather from Monday night into Tuesday morning. I know that some northern states had it way worse than this… but still! We survived (and obviously I missed a run because I was not going outside in it)! I’m grateful that we had power and hot water, because I know that some people across town did not. One of the pipes at our church actually burst and flooded half the building.IMG_20140107_113042

THREE. Does it get any cuter than babies in winter hats? Kaya was such a trooper this week and was well-behaved for a meeting I had that lasted almost three hours. I just won’t tell you how many cheese crackers she ate.IMG_20140108_135956

FOUR. This dog… I love him to bits. But Jax, here’s a newsflash: crayons are NOT foodIMG_20131030_092546

FIVE. I love her happy morning smiles.IMG_20140109_083758

Linking up with Natasha, April, Christina, and Darci today!

horse girl

Kaya came face-to-face with her future on Saturday….

IMG_20130406_153244Someday, they’ll show this picture at the Olympics after she wins the gold, and the caption will read “This is where it all began!”

We took Kaya out to the barn on Saturday, and she met (and pet!) Becky the pony and Pepsi the horse! She even reached out for Pepsi all on her own. I always knew she’d be a horse girl.

easter basket

Every holiday, my mom is always so thoughtful and sends us some kind of special treat. She’s been having extra fun now that she gets to buy for a baby, too! She sent chocolate for Michael and I, and a sweet little Easter basket for Kaya. (Prepare yourself for photo-overload! And as a sidenote, I’m not sure why her shirt is falling down. I think she must have yanked on it!)

She thought the cellophane wrapping was pretty weird…_MG_3612_MG_3618 An “Easter Surprise!” book!_MG_3621 A pink sippy cup. She put it in her mouth about one second after Michael showed it to her._MG_3628 She looks pretty happy with her loot!_MG_3635 We gave her a pink “baby bird” and a very hungry caterpillar._MG_3645 She’s got the funniest daddy ever!_MG_3648
Happy Easter!

first food

On Saturday, we gave Baby Bird her very first “real” food- yogurt! We also gave her a sippy full of water, mostly just to play with (she is obsessed with water bottles anyway, so why not!)_MG_3442

Her only interest was in playing with the bowl and spoon.

Not a fan._MG_3449

I’m not even sure if she swallowed any of it, but oh well. It was hilarious to see all the faces she made. (And yeah, I’m not sure why it didn’t cross my mind to put a bib on her. Whoops)._MG_3451
