eve: 16 months

Clothing size: 12-18 month everything.

Eye color: Blue.

Hair: Dark brown, still fuzzy in the back, and barely enough for a ponytail.

Teeth: 12!!! That’s two more since last month. We’ve just been consistently adding a couple of teeth each time I write one of these posts, which is funny because it felt like it took so long for her to start getting teeth in the first place.

Eating: She’s still eating everything, and I have yet to find something she doesn’t like. She eats every flavor yogurt, every kind of cereal, loves cucumbers, clementines, apples, bananas, shredded chicken, chicken nuggets, pizza, spaghetti, bread, cheese… just name it and she’ll eat it. She tried her first turkey this month and LOVED IT. She is drinking lots of cow’s milk now and loves that, too. She absolutely loves straws and will drink far too much water when she can use one.

I’ve cut her back to two nursing sessions per day now: first thing in the morning, and immediately before bed. I have to be honest, it was hard for me to cut out that nap time feeding, and she sometimes doesn’t fall asleep so easily without it. She really is a total goofball when nursing now if she isn’t half asleep and groggy (like she is every morning), so I don’t think she’s actually getting a whole lot of milk before bed. My supply seems to have gone down a lot, and I feel like our nursing days are numbered, which is really bittersweet.

Sleep: Oh, this girl… I think she’s trying to set a record of how many nights she gets us up. She is up generally every single night, crying and needing some snuggles to go back to sleep. I don’t nurse her in the middle of the night anymore, so it’s up to Michael to calm her down. If she randomly does sleep through the night, it feels extremely weird to have uninterrupted rest.

Words: She says so much! Mama, Dada, Ya-ya (Kaya), baby, Slothy, Sprinkles, ow (as is ouch), Scout, and she’s started saying, “nooooo” whenever I ask her anything.

“Is your cereal yummy?”
“Nooooooo” (with the biggest possible grin on her face)

Favorite things: This little lady loves to dance. She will start to boogie as soon as she hears the very first note of a song. She is obsessed with her daddy and screams “DADA!” as soon as she hears the garage open every evening. She likes playing in the bathtub but hates getting washed. She’s also suddenly obsessed with trying to steal dog food out of Scout’s bowl. If she ever goes quiet, I know exactly what she’s doing. It’s really gross (salmon-flavored dog food kernels are not something I’d think would be appetizing).

Dislikes: Getting in trouble for eating dog food, being told she can’t draw on anything other than paper, and getting her hair rinsed in the bath.

Nicknames: Evie, Little E (Littley), Lovie, Troublemaker.

Milestones, etc.:  -She’s really getting too good at climbing and tries to get on top of everything. I’m hoping this doesn’t translate into her figuring out how to climb out of her crib (which Kaya did at her age!) because there’s just no way I’m ready for that.

-We lovingly call her our little Troublemaker because she seriously destroys everything in just a few seconds. She is curious and doesn’t mean to make messes, but she’s really good at it.

-She is just as obsessed as Nella is with baby dolls, which means that they end up fighting over them often. It’s funny to see her rock babies, shush them, and tuck them in. I’m always amazed at how nurturing my girls are from such a young age.

Dear Eve,

You are a wild one. You know what you want at all times, and you are pretty self-sufficient for such a little girl. You wander around the house very independently most of the time, playing with just about everything. You love your family more than anything, though, and you are so great at giving big huge hugs. I love when you cuddle up to me.

You have such a big, loud personality, but you’re also one of the most loving people I’ve met. I love you so much, Little E.Love, Mommy
