eve: 12 months

This is it… her last monthly update of her first year! I can’t even believe how fast time has gone.

Height: 28.25 inches (18%)
Weight: 17 pounds 4 ounces (13%)
Head Circumference: 17.25 inches (21%)

Clothing size: Her 12-month things are getting a little small, so I think I need to get the 18-month items out here soon. She wears some 2T dresses already, and with how she’s been cruising around, I think she’s almost ready to wear those little pink 4T sneakers that Kaelyn and Nella wore at her age.

Eye color: Blue.

Hair: Dark brown and fuzzy! She’s still pretty bald on top, but I can make a little ponytail way in the back.

Teeth: THREE!!! She finally got another one (her top left) just after her birthday. I can see the other top one under the gum, but it hasn’t broken through yet. So far, she’s our slowest teether!

Eating: There’s really nothing she doesn’t eat. She likes everything, but especially shredded chicken, chicken nuggets, spaghetti with homemade sauce, green olives, croutons, cheerios, crackers, apples, bananas, grapes, yogurt in a pouch, raisins, and fruit snacks. She’s still nursing 3-4 times a day, usually just when she first gets up, at nap time, and at bedtime. Sometimes she’ll nurse once in the middle of the night.

Sleep: I’m always hopeful that her sleep is improving… but the truth is, we’ll have a couple of good nights and then many nights where we’re waking up a lot. I have been trying to cut out that middle-of-the-night feeding, and I think we’re almost there. I don’t top her off with a dream feed before I go to bed any more, and sometimes she’ll wake up in the wee hours just wanting me. I gave in a lot last week because Michael was out of town, and that was the easiest way to get her and I both back to bed. She goes to bed around 8 pm and gets up for the day around 7:30 am or so. She takes one 3-hour-long nap around 1:30 or 2 pm, although if we have afternoon plans, I can put her down around 12 or 12:30, and she’ll have a bit of a shorter nap.

Words: Mama, Dada, up. She sometimes tries to imitate sounds, so we’ve heard her say what sounded like “book” and “Kaya”. She also screams A LOT, and very loudly at that. She babbles all the time, which comically sounds like “Blaaah blaaah blaaaah blaaaah!”

Favorite things: She’s obsessed with anything that has buttons or a screen, like the TV remote or phones. She still lights up when she sees her mommy in the morning, and she squeals when Daddy walks through the door at night. Her sisters make her laugh, and she loves Scout too. She loves taking everything out and throwing it on the floor. She also likes playing in the water now, and riding in the baby swing at the playground.

She’s suddenly obsessed with necklaces and the way she wears them is so funny- she just drapes them around the back of her neck. She even wore a Nintendo Switch controller that way one day.

Dislikes: This girl is opinionated! She hates being told no and will scream and throw fits now to try and get what she wants. Lately, we’ll be trying to do school, and she’ll be throwing tantrums about literally everything, which makes it really hard to focus. We have officially started some timeouts to try to correct it… But Nella did the same thing at Eve’s age, and I remember it taking a really long time to get the tantrums under control.

Nicknames: Evie, Little E, Evie Bedeevee, Lovie.

Milestones, etc.: -Well, she can climb ALL THE STAIRS now. We put up a gate.

-She’s cruising all over the place and has even started trying to walk while holding onto the doll stroller. It really won’t be long until she’s walking independently!

-She loves to go through all the cabinets and pull everything out. She’s into literally everything.

-She loves to climb into the toy car now, and she also spends a lot of time playing with the water table.

Seriously… who could resist this cuteness? Not me! My letter to her this month is here. The best part of these monthly photos is putting them all together at the end of the year. I love this so much!
