November 8: I’m thankful for my talents that allow me to create things for other people… November 9: …for a Daddy to help with bath time… November 10: …for Daddy cuddles when she isn’t feeling well… November 10: … for all the silly things she does (like putting “makeup” on Michael here)! November 12: I’m thankful for date-nights in and Pillsbury cinnamon rolls… November 13: … for this goofy dog who will snuggle with anything. November 14: … for this mess, because it means we have someone to make it (and toys for her to play with).

five on friday: santa baby and mrs. fix-it
ONE. We’re getting ready for Santa! Some of our decorations are up, but it has been slow-going over here. Having a toddler makes it a little harder (we just really want to relax after she goes to bed)! The tree is up and only partially lit, so hopefully we will finish that this weekend. TWO. I’m not even sure how this happened… but Kaya and I got to sleep in until 9 am on Wednesday! I can’t even remember the last time we did that! Somehow, Michael got up and ready for work without making much noise. Kaya’s still been tired from our Thanksgiving traveling last week, so she’s been sleeping a few extra hours. It was pretty much heavenly.
THREE. I feel like an [unsuccessful] Mrs. Fix-It this week. Our dishwasher hasn’t been getting things clean… so I unscrewed the vent to clean it out and see if anything was causing a blockage. I found some gunk, a piece of plastic, and a dime! I’m not sure how the dime got in there (I’ll just blame the people who lived here before us)! Needless to say, it’s still not getting our dishes clean so the maintenance guy should be coming to fix it for real. We also tried to watch “Elf” this week… and the DVD didn’t work. The disc has a little wear, but I wouldn’t even really call it scratched. I tried window cleaner and then furniture polish on it (two tricks people claim to work)… and nothing. Sad day.
FOUR. I bought these bibs a few weeks ago and have been loving them! I was disgusted by the pile of dirty bibs I always had waiting to go in the wash (and they never seemed to come completely clean, either), so I wanted something I could wash in the sink right away after she wears it. So much less mess! FIVE. Sometimes, I still see a little baby when I look at her. I wish she could keep these cheeks forever.Happy weekend! Linking up with Natasha, April, Christina, and Darci today!
december goals
Well… I have to be honest. I kind of failed at most of my November goals. Ugh.
1. Overhaul our closet. I replaced the hamper, but we still need to go through clothes.
2. No technology use after 10 pm. I did well with this in the beginning of the month… and then Michael worked late a lot of nights and we were traveling, so it was hard.
3. Figure out Christmas presents. I’m pretty much done, I think! I know what Santa’s bringing for Kaya, and I’m so excited to see her face on Christmas morning!
4. Clean the car (inside and out). This didn’t happen at all. And since we traveled for Thanksgiving, the car now has Kaya’s cheesit crumbs all in the back seat. Oops.
5. Project 365. I’m doing well with this so far! I’m disappointed though that I missed a day because of travel/packing/cleaning…
For December, I’m not making any “official” goals. There are a lot of fun things I want to do for Christmas, so I’m just going by this bucket list instead. Here’s to enjoying time with my little family 🙂19 days!
turkey times two
Just like last year, we were blessed enough to celebrate Thanksgiving twice! We spent Wednesday at the Irwin house. It’s pretty rare that all the kids are home, so we definitely enjoyed our time together. We had 15 people at dinner, and had to use two tables!
I made my world famous mac ‘n cheese (seriously, it is the best recipe I’ve tried). Choco-mint freeze for dessert, as always! We relaxed (Kaya actually never got out of her pjs…) and goofed off. She napped through dinnertime, which was a little disappointing, but it was actually nice that we could enjoy our meal without having to multitask. She seemed to like turkey! But then ended up just eating cucumbers. On Thursday, we went to my parents’ house! Kaya was awake for this dinner, but she might’ve filled up on olives before the meal (I’ll take the blame for that one) so the only thing she wanted to do was feed Daddy. Of course we had dessert that night, too 🙂
